Transcreation
Sometimes a translation is not enough. Cultural differences between the author’s country and that of the reader can cause confusion, from creating unintentional comedy, in the least serious cases, to causing offence or a full-blown diplomatic incident. To avoid this, you may wish to use a “creative translation”, or “transcreation” service. What this means is that once your English or French text has been translated into Italian, I rewrite it, localizing and adapting it to the cultural norms and references of your intended Italian audience.
Transcreation sits midway between translation and copywriting, and is more or less essential when you are dealing with more “creative” marketing content, where the translator needs to go a step further to produce an effective text.
It is a skill that you can only develop with experience, requiring not only a thorough command of the source language, but also an in-depth understanding of the culture in which the text is to be received.
In recent years, I have been able to gain extensive experience in this type of work, collaborating with a number of international clients and translation agencies in other countries.
You will notice that I don’t include a list of prices per word or per page on this site. This is because each project has to be analyzed and assessed in terms of the service required and the nature of the content. I will be pleased to send you a free quotation; just send me an email with the details of what you need and we can take it from there.
